A new wave of revival is about to burst upon us. We must get ready!

Revival Fires
Throughout history there have been revivals or fresh outpourings of the Holy Spirit. Acts 3:19 refers to these revivals as “times of refreshing” that “come from the presence of the Lord.” To “refresh” or “revive” is to impart life. A real revival is a time of quickening or impartation of life. And since only God can give true life, a revival is a time when God visits His people and imparts life to them by the power of the Holy Spirit.
In times of revival, Christians that have fallen away from God repent and clearly see that the things of the world (which they have been dabbling in) are incompatible with their life in God. They are forgiven and fellowship with the Lord is restored. A true revival will always bring people into an intimate relationship with God. They get a new joy in the Lord and a new love for the Word of God.
In times of revival, Christians also get a new spirit of prayer. Prayer is no longer a mere duty but a necessity of a hungry heart.
In times of revival, Christians get interested in lost souls and eagerly share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others, bringing them into the kingdom of God. A real revival brings a deep conviction of sin to the world which results in true conversions and many salvations of souls.
In times of revival, there are true signs, wonders, miracles, and healings that are produced among people as the Lord confirms His Word with great power. A real revival is a genuine visitation of God. But, it only comes as a result of effectual and continued prayer. And when revival comes, it changes everything!
The Importance of Prayer
The first great revival of Christian history had its origin, on the human side, in prayer (Acts 1:14). As a result of prayer, they were all filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4).
Revival broke out because they labored together with God's plans and purposes in prayer. Three thousand souls were saved in one day (Acts 2:41). They continued in prayer (Acts 2:42) and revival continued - signs and wonders were done (Acts 2:43) and the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved (Acts 2:47).
We see believers praying again in the fourth chapter of Acts. When they prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled (Acts 4:31) and they gave witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus with great power (Acts 4:33). There were many signs and wonders wrought among the people (Acts 5:12) and multitudes of men and women were saved (Acts 5:14). Masses of people were also healed (Acts 5:15, 16). This revival swept across the region and spread to the uttermost parts of the earth. Every true revival from that day to this has had its origin in prayer.
If today's Spirit-filled believers would start believing God for a fresh outpouring of His Spirit and pray in the Holy Spirit the way believers did in those days, the same mighty power would be in manifestation today as it was then.
Waves of Revival
These revivals seem to come in waves. Looking at recent history we see that there was a wave of the Spirit that began in the early 1900’s which became known as the Pentecostal Movement. It was followed by the wave called the Healing Revival beginning in 1947 that swept the nation with the force of God's healing power and lasted through 1958. That wave washed into the shore and gave way to the Charismatic Movement during which many people in denominational churches were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues. Then we had a great revival of teaching God's Word - what some people call the Faith Movement.
But now another wave is coming! It is the wave of the Holy Spirit! It is about to burst upon us in all of its glory and power, and every one of us should be determined not to miss it! So what do we do? Do not stay on the old wave of yesterday's move of the Spirit and ride it into the shore, only to be left high and dry on the sand. No, swim out to the deep waters of the Spirit realm by praying in the Holy Spirit, and get on the new wave of God's plans and purposes for this time. Then keep on praying so that you can ride this new wave as it builds in power and splendor.
If you have ever watched a wave come in, you know that before it ever breaks on the shore, it begins way out in the deep waters of the ocean. The potential energy of the wave begins long before you ever see the final results washing unto the shore. That is what prayer accomplishes in the spiritual realm. When you pray in the Spirit, you give momentum to the next move of God's Spirit before that spiritual wave is ever seen with your natural eyes.
The Coming Revival
There is definitely something in our hearts that tells us another wave is coming. This wave will bring God's power on a higher level than any of us have ever experienced. This could be the wave that sweeps us right on in to the shores of heaven. But it will not come just because we know God wants it to happen. We are going to have to enter the deeper realm of prayer and give birth to that which God wants to do.
We must get ready! We must forget our petty differences and come together in unity to enter the realm of the Spirit in prayer. We must get our focus off of ourselves and unto what God wants to do in the earth. Generation after generation has had their revivals. This is our time! Oh, may we desire it and receive such a burden to pray so that revival comes once again!
"Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord."
Acts 3:19
